Welcome to The Gag!



My love of gags and magic first came from a visit to the Magic Shop on Main Street at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. For some reason, the collection of fake flies in ice cubes, whoopee cushions, and cans of nuts that hid spring loaded snakes appealed to my bent sense of humor and I was hooked for life.
The idea for The Gag has taken on many forms over the past few years, but it wasn’t until I was over half way through my MBA when I decided to stop dreaming about this site and actually put together a plan of action… plus, I needed a topic for a strategy paper. After the paper received an "A" and accolades from my classmates, I took some free time caused by a layoff from work and started the first version of The Gag, which lasted for almost two years. The current iteration was launched in April of 2004, just in time for our first television appearance on "Living it Up! With Ali & Jack", where our Gag of the Month Club was featured in a segment on unique gifts.

I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do and, of course, buy lots of entertaining pranks and magic tricks from it (I’m not running a charity here after all... I have student loans to pay).

The Gag is owned and operated by its creator, Jeff Ferguson, a long time fan of practical jokes and magic, and a veteran in the online marketing field since 1995 with Fortune 500 companies such as Hilton Hotels Corp. and Kimberly-Clark Corp. He is often assisted and always supported by his wife, Andrea, an educator. Jeff and Andrea currently reside with their two cats in Orange County, California.
