Structured Payments are worth far less in a lump some than paid over time.  The person who buys your settlement is going to expect a reasonable return on their investment.

First, they are going to want to offset inflation, which has been around 3% recently but historically has gone much, much higher.

Secondly, the ROI they are expecting is going to be as high as possible.  It is wise to get multiple quotes from different companies to ensure you are getting a reasonable value.

Lastly, don't sell unless you have to.  The annuity can be a nice friend that is always their to help out.
