And now, Popcorn, Indiana stores have a new name: Dale & Thomas PopcornTM.

Why the name change? Who are Dale & Thomas? What's the story?

The Popcorn, Indiana chain was founded by entrepreneur Warren Struhl, along with his business partner Richard Demb. Every since his childhood in the Bronx, Warren loved popcorn. If fact, the only thing Warren liked better than eating popcorn was starting successful companies, which he did several times in several industries.

Warren's dream was to eventually create the company that would revolutionize popcorn retailing, as Starbucks had done for coffee, Cinnabon had done for cinnamon rolls and Auntie Anne's had done for soft pretzels.

It was only after coming up with the name Popcorn, Indiana that Warren and Richard learned there really was a town named Popcorn, Indiana.
Prior to opening their first stores, Warren and Richard made a pilgrimage to the tiny town of Popcorn, Indiana. They visited the Popcorn Church, Popcorn Road and had the good fortune to meet the elder statesman of Popcorn, Indiana, Dale Humphrey.

Dale, as a lifelong resident of the town of Popcorn, Indiana, had a passion for popcorn unmatched by even Warren. Dale is as enthusiastic about the popcorn store plans and became a friend, inspiration and guiding spirit of the Popcorn, Indiana store concept.

The two Popcorn, Indiana stores opened with a product line ranging from the wholesome Country Cheddar to the indulgent Chocolate Chunk Caramel.

The Drive-In Movie Natural popcorn was a tasty tribute to the good old days, with just a tad of salt. Freshly popped Kettle Corn had the down-home sweet and salty taste made popular at Midwest Country Fairs. Dale's Caramel was fresh, sweet and lightly kissed with rich caramel, a tribute to Dale Humphrey.

New Yorkers couldn't get enough of Popcorn, Indiana's freshly popped popcorn. The stores were an instant hit.

One day Isiah Thomas, the President of the New York Knicks and one of the NBA's greatest players of all time, visited a Popcorn, Indiana store.

Isiah, it turns out, is passionate about popcorn, and is even a member of the national Popcorn Board.
Popcorn played an important part in his early years, growing up in one of Chicago's poorest neighborhoods.

Isiah became so excited about the delicious popcorn and the store concept that he soon became a part-owner and an enthusiastic spokesman for the company.

The popularity of the concept and numerous requests led Warren and his team to develop a franchise program, so qualified individuals could own their own popcorn stores in markets across the country. Before launching what he envisioned will become a nationwide chain selling the world's best popcorn, Warren decided to change the name to Dale & Thomas Popcorn.

The Dale & Thomas Popcorn name is a tribute to, two of the most passionate popcorn lovers you will ever meet: Dale Humphrey and Isiah Thomas. The Dale & Thomas Popcorn name is also a tribute to the unifying power and broad appeal of the world's greatest food: popcorn.
